Is there a need for custom cut carbon fiber parts?

I am curious if there are people looking for custom cut (CNC quality) carbon fiber parts for r/c's.

I have also thought about creating my own line of chassis etc for some of the 1/18th scale cars and trucks out there. I know there is plenty of competition out there, but I believe I could create these parts and offer them cheaper than most places can because I would basically be doing it on the side and for fun, not to get rich.

Is there another preferred material for r/c parts that I should look into (besides materials for molding)?

If you have anything at all that you would like to say, please do I'm not looking for just the people who need custom pieces, but also any type of feedback as to whether or not this could be viable.

I don't have the tooling yet to cut anything, but if the requests are high, it is definately something that I will look into more and more.

Thanks,
Shay

Re: Is there a need for custom cut carbon fiber parts?

Some people might want custom cut CF hood for their cars, but most RC are in 1/10th scale

Re: Is there a need for custom cut carbon fiber parts?

Not yet, but like I said, if there seems to be a market for some custom parts and a possibility to start my own line of products I will do everything I can to get one.

The reason I was looking at 1/18th scale cars and smaller pieces like that is because the mill that I am looking at won't be able to accomodate 1/10th scale size chassis'. I would love to get one that was big enough to, but thats about another 15k

EDIT: I was talking about pieces like chassis, shock towers, etc... not the cosmetics, to many curves involved to just cut them.
