Lightbulb Horn of Death

Hey,

I've already posted about my problem with the car going into panic mode unprovoked. The body control module as suggested one of you said runs about 140$. Is there any simple way just to kill the alarm so that i wouldnt have to waste the money on it? The Horn has gone off 3 times so far in a week since i bought the car and i need to drive it to school without the thing going off in the parking lot. Please hit me up with any suggesstions.

here is something to try. There is a anti-theft relay mounted under the dash on the passenger side near the brake control module. there should be two relays behind the air bag, and the theft control is the one toward the door, the one toward the center of the car is for the rear defogger. Teh relays are the same part number, so you could try switching them around to see if your horn demon goes away (the relay for the theft deterrent may be shorted, switching them would eliminate the relay as a culprit.) If switching the relay doesn't stop the alarm, the BCM is at fault and you could either try leaving the relay unplugged, thus breaking the connection to the horn, or replace the BCM. The only thing I'm not sure of is if leaving the relay unplugged would have any ill effects on the car other than disabling the theft deterrent, I'm just theorizing here.

Phoenix69,

You didn't say what worked - - did switching the relays solve the problem, or did you remove the relay and leave it out?

Thanks,
