I have a 2000 Durango with about 125K on it. It's been great!! Recently it developed a problem. Went starting the engine revs right up to 2-2.5k. Then 'hunts' and finally settles down to a normal idle after about 15-20 seconds.(Really not good!!) This surging also rears it's igly head at stops too. Pull up to a stop light, the engine idles normal and then surges and hunts from 1-1.5k. Put it in neutral, and it can go up to 2-2.5k again, and after a few cycles, finally drops back to 500-700. I've been reading the forums, and have a few ideas, like the IAC, TPS, Idle speed motor, dirty throttle body, even the intake gastket... But, before I go hammering methodically through this list, has anyone else had this issue? Oh Yeah...did the spark plug thing...no difference!

Cleaned the IAC, throttle body, air plenum, etc. Replaced the intake gaskets and the TPS. Runs like new!! But I have to tell you....the intake gaskets cost more than gold!!
