x2 clutching?

Well someone told me this and it made sense at the time but now I dont get it, he said that when you racing or sumthin that when you shift into second if you press the clutch and gas at the same time and shift your wheels will spin like a mini burnout and youll get goin a lil quiker or sumthin like that, maybe someone else has heard?

haha i did it on accident one night and yea u get a lil burnout, but its bad for your synchros, called power shifting, actually slows u down if u shift too high sometimes, i shift right near 5500 with my si and its pretty fricken cool . . . wouldnt recommend doing it too much cuz it does destroy your transmission. i happen to have an h22a and tranny being shipped right now, so im not worried if i screw up the tranny, already grinds 3rd gear so not in the best shape anyways

Its pretty stupid. No point in doing it, its just a stupid "hype" thing...Double clutching when upshifting is just sad, or even powershifting which is holding the gas while you shift.

Ive drag raced countless times and tryied countless shit, pressing the clutch letting go of the gas and putting it into gear is the best way. There are slight variations that can make your time faster such as how much your press the clutch (how deep) as well as the gas at certian points, u just need practice to nail some of that stuff.

So bottom line. Mini burnouts, double clutching and all that shit...is worthless.

Spinning tires after gear change is called a "chirp"
Like stated above power shifting is very hard on the trans.

Double Clutch = Semi, OLD vehicles, Race cars
1. Gas
2. Release gas clutch in
3. Shift to neutral
4. Let clutch out
5. Clutch in - keeping RPM's at the correct speed
6. Shift next gear
7. Clutch out & back on the gas

Double clutching is for non-synchronized manual transmissions. The only benefit DCing w/ synchro trans is slightly reduced synchro wear mostly on downshifts. Just remeber one thing stock Honda man. trans is not designed for repetitive hard downshifts.

ok, last question, wats easier on the tranny? Downshifting or poppin it in neutral and pressing brake?

How could downshifting ever be better for a tranny when using a the brakes has nothing to do with the tranny.

Downshifting is bad for the tranny, braking will use up your brake pads.

You decide - would you rather have a tranny replaced or pay 50 bucks, if even that, for new brake pads every few years?

I always downshift except from second to first, but I let it out slowly while braking (probably why my clutch is fried).

well sum guy told me that manual trnsmissions where meant for downshifiting and puttin it in neutral and braking hurts it. But there were two peopls saying it and me sayin it wasnt so i was just like w/e.

"sum guy" is an idiot. when you switch into neutral in a mt, your tranny isnt doin a thing anymore. and in my 89 crx ive downshifted ever since ive learned how to drive (bout 4 years now), whether everyday driving or road racing. Tranny's never been replaced and lasted 15 years w/ no problems. clutch had about 15k miles on it when i got it and its still great.

Brake while pressing on the gas & clutch to match your engine speed to your ground speed.

That's called power shifting, where you hold the gas between shifts. This will destroy your clutch but give you .01 faster times in the 1/4
