This has us stumped. The Air Conditioner on my wife's '98 Intrigue GL has been acting up lately. Recent system check showed full level of coolant and no leaks.
What's happening: The A/C turns on but blows warm air for 5-15 minutes before cold air begins to circulate (not a pleasant thing here in Arizona!). When I drove the car I noticed the A/C kept turning itself off and repeated pushes on the A/C button finally resulted in the unit staying on and cold air was produced. The wife thinks this was a quirk because the light stays on for her. (BTW, the A/C "on" light is really lame and often difficult to see in the daytime. So perhaps the unit was on and I was turning it off and on.) Years ago I remember A/C units often acted up like this when a "thermo-coupler" was bad. I have no idea if the Intrigue has one of these but I am sure someone out there has experienced something similar to this and has an answer or suggestion before I spend big bucks by taking this one to the dealer. |

Re: A/C problem (works after ~10 miles)
I don't think this car has a thermocouple for the a/c. Make sure the condensor fan is running because it can cause similar indications.
