Chevrolet Metro lsi 1.3L 2000
Can anyone help? I have the above vehicle which i have a problem when i brake from about 45/55mph. I get vibration in the brake pedal but at slower speeds the brakes work smooth no vibration at all. I have put on new front brakes and shoes new front brake rotors, re torqued the wheel nuts and the problem is still there. Has anyone else had this problem if so whats the answer please.

Sounds like your rear brakes aren't working, or aren't doing much. It puts all the load on the front brakes, and is warping your rotors because they get too hot.

Radio:
Do a test braking with your manual brake. Watch out not to speed that much. Tell us afterwards. Also, look what I found on a geo metro review page http://auto.consumerguide.com/auto/u...ex.cfm/id/2165 ===== Trouble Spots Brakes: Vehicle is susceptible to brake-pedal vibrations from warped rotor caused by uneven lug nut torque. (1995) Brakes: Antilock Brake System (ABS) light comes on, especially in hot or humid weather, due to binding in the ABS motor pack. (1995-97) Doors: The rear doors may not open from the outside due to a problem with the latch. (1995) ===== MC.

It is easy to over torque the wheel nuts and slightly warp the rotors, according to all data the correct torque for my 2001 is only 45 lbs. usually wheels are torqued to 75 to 100. I had the same problem and replaced the rotors. my opinion

Chevrolet Metro lsi 1.3L 2000
Hi all! well just letting you all know the problem i had is when i first got the car so i put on new disc drums left and right and new brake pads and shoes left and right on the front two wheels and yes re torqued my lug nuts on all the wheels with a torque wrench set at 45 as per the manual i still have this problem. I can only now narrow it down to two things i need new wheel bearings and or new cv joints, i dont think i need cv joints the car makes no popping grinding no noise whatever. Please keep sending me replys i appreciate it as soon as its fixed ill post a message saying what the problem was as to help anyone else if i can thanks.

Radio:
Try to isolate the problem. I mean, you should be sure if the problem comes from the front or the rear brakes. Did you the manual breake test already?. What were the results? MC

Check your tie rods ends and ball joints too. You may have a deeper problem than you may think. jack each wheel up, and pull, push, and shake it. if it even moves a mm, you have a problem that will cause high speed vibration, and potential loss of control. Make sure everything is nice and tight.

Re: Chevrolet Metro lsi 1.3L 2000
Man.. if your mechanical skills are not good, I believe it is time to take your car to the cardoc. Grease, oil and all that "slippery" stuff on your brakes is quite dangerous. Many of these products on hot circumstances cristalyzes brake pads and make them unusable. The bad thing reagarding this is that it could happen meanwhile you drive. For real metrobrother, check it ASAP. MC

Well think the rear drums are warped because of the previous owner riding the brakes which makes them hot, causing them to warp so a mechanic told me who had seen this problem a couple of times before. Can the rear drums just be rotated?

Amnn.. well.. if somebody did it once, I can't see a reason why it could not be done twice. Kind of weird though. Take it easy with the testing Radio.
