2000 venture

My 2000 Chevy Venture will Fast Idle on its own and when I stop at a stop light the idle is very high obviously and when I proceed I don't need to step on the Accelerator because it basically Accelerates itself to about 40 mph but some days it doesn't do it at all but its getting more consistant . I have changed the idle control sensor and no luck.any suggestions ? could it be the Mass Air Flow Sensor?

Re: 2000 venture

tap lightly on the mass air flow and see if it affects your engine speed, if it does, you have a bad mass air flow sensor. It sounds like an IAC motor to me, if that's what you meant by idle control sensor, maybe you got a bad one. When you replaced it, did you clear all codes from the computer??? If the codes are not cleared, the computer will not recognize the new part. Your van is an OBDII vehicle, and requires a scan tool to clear the codes. Auto zone and some Advance Auto stores check and clear codes for free.
