Unhappy Help! Stop lights won't go off!

Hello, all! I was hoping someone could help me out with a problem I'm having with my '99 Ford Escort. All of a sudden, the stoplights and the high-mount stop light will not shut off, whether the engine is on or off. I have tried disconnecting each of the three bulbs, but the others still stay on. Once the fuse is removed, the lights go out. Try another fuse, and they all come back on!

Anybody have any experience with this annoying electrical dilemma? Is there maybe a stoplight switch that could have gone bad? Where would the problem most likely be located in the car? Help!!!

RL

try unplugging the switch mounted to the brake pedal - if they go out the switch is stuck - if not try jiggling the wires to the switch - occasionaly they will short together

Thanks! Managed to locate the switch - looks like it might have wiggled loose from the pedal a bit. After a small adjustment, the lights are back to normal again.

Thanks again!

I am having the same problem, but I replaced the switch and they're still on. I called the dealer, but they won't help me unless I come in. Any help would be great. Thanks!
