flywheel comparsion
does anybody know whats the difference between a 88 dx flywheel and a 91 si flywheel? i need this info cuz im changing my dx tranny to a 91 si tranny and i need to know if i need a si flywheel.

The 88 has a tiny 190mm/7.5 inches clutch disk size and the 91 has 212mm/ 8-3/8 inches clutch disk size. The 88 has 21 splines and the 91 has 20 splines. I believe that you will need to get a 89-91 flywheel and clutch to match the 1991 tranny because the splines on the 88 will not work..
Correct me if I am wrong.

Yeah the 88 and the 91 one wont match up for shit, the splines are different, i found this out when i bought my stage 2 clutch and flywheel from my friend who owns an 88. So they are NOT compatible.........

you can use the 88 flywheel but only if you get an 89 clutch. cause the surface area of the clutches are the same in 88-89 (200mm). If you want a clutch that has more surface are get a 90-91 flywheel and it will be 212mm
