I have an 86 celica GTS with a JDM 3SGE and a stock tranny. Every single time that I put it in second gear, it grinds and pisses me off. Any ideas of what it is? Thanks in advance.

Re: slipping 2nd
You're pushing the clutch in, right? (just kidding!)
Sounds like a bad synchro to me, too, or it could be that the clutch isn't disengaging all the way when you push the pedal down... |

I forgot to mention this. When I get off the gas sometimes but I still have in second gear, it spits it out. Would the synchro just affect second though? I'm not very familiar with the way trannies work.

These can wear prematurely.......by driving with worn synchros and grinding the gears. |
