The AC switch (fan speed control) on my 1994 Jetta is having issues.
It gets hot and has actually melted part of the plastic knob. So far speed 1-3 burned out long ago. Now its either on 4 or nothing. What could the cause of this problem be, and how do I fix it? Whats the difficulty level in changing my switcher? |

Re: AC Switch
The loss of all speeds except high is cuased by a burnt out resistor pack, it's screwed onto the air distribution box behind the glove box. If the switch is getting hot there is resistance in the circuit. You may be able to clean the contact pins on the switch connector, but would probably be better off replacing it.
