The 1g Head..6-Bolt Engine or Head?

I'm planning to buy a 97-99 GSX. The question here is when i get one, should i do a full 1g GSX engine swap or jus the 1g head swap? I already know the future mods for it too. But wich is better to do in the 2g eclipse GSX? the full 1g swap or the 1g head?

Re: The 1g Head..6-Bolt Engine or Head?

nothing but you have the risk of crankwalking the block! i'd just suggest modding the piss out of the motor and car until something happens (use it as a test bunny) so if something does fuck up you then can do the 6 bolt swap... dont fuck with a prefectly fine motor wait until something happens first! but if i were you and you really want to do the swap then do the full motor... easier to do now then to have the bottom end crankwalk/fuck up and have to do it later! good luck

theres nothing wrong with it, but you asked wich is best. and i think you would be way better off if you had the whole 1g swap. less problems.

Re: The 1g Head..6-Bolt Engine or Head?

Many people do just the 1g head swap. For 95-96, it requires the 1g CAS and anti-RM CEL measures as the full swap, so you might as well do it all. You can do just the head on the 97-99 if the block is ok, odds are it will never CW. You can also swap just the block and keep the 2g head, which makes for a little less work to the cooling system, but still has the RM CEL issues.
