fog light button (is it supposed to light up all the time?)

Ok, I know this sounds wierd having me ask this question. I'm working on trying to make everything work perfect in my car. I have almost everything working perfect except I thought when I bought the car, the fog light button lit up all the time and the green led at the top of the button turned on and off when the fog lights were on or off. Or does the whole button just turn on and off where when the fog lights are off (or the high beams on)?

Thanks,

David

The button should only light up when the foglights are on - and they turn off automatically if you have your high beams on. This is on a classic - I don't know if a 2nd gen works the same or not.

Re: fog light button (is it supposed to light up all the time?)

and this is the whole button, right... or is it just the green led at the top of the light? The reason I ask is it seems to get dimmer towards the bottom of the button like the whole button is being lit by the bulb that lights the green led-type light. Made me think that maybe there's a light for the rest of the button that is burnt out. But I didn't want to pull the trim off and check if I could just confirm it with the forum first. Didn't want to risk messing up my dash for nothing (even though I know even if it is supposed to light up, it is pretty miniscule anyway).

On my 1996 the button is lit equally all round, comes on with the dash lights and is controlled by the dash dimmer.
When I push the button to the on position the small green light above the button comes on.

Re: fog light button (is it supposed to light up all the time?)

so does anyone know if there is a light i can replace on the back of the button? Or is it something that I need to just order a whole new button if I want it to work? I would like to have the new bulb in hand when I take it apart so I only take it apart once.

Re: fog light button (is it supposed to light up all the time?)

Ok, just to update, I bought a fog light switch out of a 96 aurora and put it in today. Now the switch (the symbol of the fog lights) is on all the time and the green led at the top comes on when the fog lights are on. Little things like this amuses me.
