Oil cooling line leak at radiator
I replaced my 95 Tahoe's radiator about 3 weeks ago. Not a bad job. Then a few days ago I noticed a small amount of oil on the garage floor and traced it to the lower oil cooling line leaking at where it goes into the radiator. The problem is the line coupling tightens onto itself before the line itself is tight. Now I'm wondering if I have any options but to replace the line. Also, curious if there's supposed to be an O-ring that maybe I left on the old radiator.

Yes there is an O-ring on the end of each of the oil coller lines where ir attaches to the radiator.

The oil cooler lines have O-rings where they go into the radiator.

Re: Oil cooling line leak at radiator
Thanks much for the replys. Got the o-rings from the Chevy dealer yesterday.......83 pennies a peice. Also, took a look at the transmission cooling lines and m=noticed they are different in that they don't use o-rings. The transmisson lines are a compression type fitting. Thanks again.

New question could be same problem???
My problem is I bought a new aluminum radiator a week ago it came with 4 "adapters" 2 for the transmission lines and 2 for the oil lines. The trans adapters worked fine, but when I put the oil ones in my oil lines would not thread cause the adapter wasn't deep enough. So I didn't use them and my lines threaded fine. Now the problem is I have an oil leak from my lower line. I am not sure if the o rings metioned came with the radiator so if so then I should get them and put them in. how can I tell??

Re: Oil cooling line leak at radiator
The transmission lines on my 95 use a compression type fitting without any seal. The oil lines require an o-ring. They should have come with the new radiator. Your other option is to go to a dealer and get a couple of them. They're less than a buck a peice. Or, worst case, you could use the rings off of your old radiator. In my case, the o-rings got disposed of with the old radiator. I didn't realize I needed o-rings until I got the leak.

You were right on the mark. When I went back and looked at the oil lines I could see remnants of the old o ring. I purchase two o rings at a local dealer for less then $2 and installed them within 25 minutes ran the engine for a good 20 minutes and no leaks. Thanks for the help!!
