Alpine Type R?

Looking through Ultimate Electronics, I can upon a pair of 12" Alpine Type R subs. THey were in a bandpass box (which I bought) and had great sound in the store, hooked up to my exact amp. Has anyone had any experience with these, or know if they are good subs? $200 a piece was expensive, so I thought I would ask around before buying.

they are nice subs, but not worth 200 apiece by a long shot, son't get them for that price, my friend bought a pair of type r 10's for 160$, and taht was a good deal, but 400 for a pair, thats crazy, for that you could get 2 oz audio matriz elites, those blow the alpines away.

Re: Alpine Type R?

the type R's are ok.. for $200 a piece its a rip off.. you should be able to get them from $100-$125 each.. and they dont sound that great in bandpass boxes.. for that get the new type S.. cost less and has a bit less quality. the type R's supposedly are made for quality.. when i called the alpine guy he said they work best in sealed enclosures.. 1cu.ft for each sub anyways good luck

they're very good subs, they'll do what they claim
as for the price, that's what it cost to own alpine

Re: Alpine Type R?

open-box (returns)
factory refurbished
manufacture previous year overstock
discontinued models (svc - dvc and 2 - 4 ohms)

these are all ways to find what you want under M.S.R.P.
