Question V8, V6, or Syclone

In the Marines, and going to Iraq soon and will come back with a load of cash. I have a 2.2L now. Will a 4.3L Vortec or a 2.8L Syclone bolt up to my current tranny? If so, I may go with one of those. If I'm going to have to replace the tranny anyways, I may go with a small block 350 or 305. Any suggestions are welcome. Also if anyone has done a swap, how much can I expect to spend?

Re: V8, V6, or Syclone

well a syclone doesnt have a 2.8 it actually has a 4.3 turbocharged, and no it probably wont bolt up to ur existing tranny but im not positvie on that. as for as a v8 swap, i did one and spent very little, but i got a VERY good deal on my engine and tranny(100 for both) besdies that i spent like a couple hundred to drop it in. also expect to spend about 4-5 dasy on it, if u do a v8 swap

Was that a typo? Did you get the engine and tranny for $100 or $1000? Also where did you get them, from a junkyard, or did you purchase them from a website? Let me know. Also, what size engine did you install? And what does your truck run in the 1/4 Mile? Thanks!!

Re: V8, V6, or Syclone

no the engine and tranny for one hundred dollars. it came from my uncle who owns his own mini junkyard where he deasl with cars for spare money. i put in a L69 HO 305, which if u couldnt get a HO 305 i wouldnt get any other ones becasue i heard they are not very good for performance, if u cant get a HO just go witha 350. and im not sure what i rin in the 1/4, becasue i havent been able to run it yet, but my 0-60 is about 5.5 seconds. without any traction devices so spin VERY bad in first gear and a little in second.
