|
a brake spring broke and i got a kit to replace the damaged parts, i took my rear driverside tire off, then tried to remove the brake drum cover, i cant get it off. what am i doing wrong? i have tried wd40, i have tried beating it off with a sledge hammer (trying to free it up) is there some special tool for this. please help quick

The shoes are pressed outward against the drum, making it hard to remove the drum. Look on the backside of the drum; there should be an access slot (might be covered by a rubber plug - can't recall). Just insert a small-blade screwdriver into the slot to lift up the little tab on the starwheel adjuster - then insert another screwdriver through the slot and turn the adjuster up (I think) to retract the shoes away from the drum. Then you should be able to easily remove the drum.
