my 98 prelude runs really hot. i think i can fry an egg on the hood but it runs fine. is this normal? i dont want any damage to my engine. is it cause of the headers? do i need to put heat wrap on them?

Re: engine running HOT
ummmm - there is a temperature guage in the car - what does it read... if it is somewhere close to the middle then your car is fine.... if it is showing really hot then you got problems. I would not try to fix it if you do not know how to diagnose the problems. take it to a shop - they will look at it for you. you will blow your motor driving it really hot.

Re: engine running HOT
the temp reads normal...a little more to the cold side than the hot...but the engine feels like it is soooo hot and when you pop open the hood it feels like opening a preheated oven

Re: engine running HOT
if the temp reads normal then the car is fine... but if you say you got a header then i would watch out for that - make sure it doesn't melt your radiator fans. get some heat wrap

Re: engine running HOT
i just wanted to add: heat wrap is good, i use it, but don't overwrap it, thinking it will work a ton better. that will actually cause the header to not displace enough heat, and cause it to crack.
