Love my monte, but it dont love me
i have a 2000 monte carlo ls, 3.4 liter, bought it in may of 2000 with 9,000 miles and it now has 66,000. Problems i've had: Its on its 3rd transmission, had to replace the fuel tank, intake gasket, radiator, fuel line vac canister, various electronics, and now my car is idling high whenever the engine warms up....but its randomly doing it....The only thing that i can think of is being an intake gasket leak causing a vaccuum and the electronics think its getting more air so it sends more fuel, but i wanted a 2nd or 3rd or however many opinions before i take it to the dealerships around here. Ive already had it to the dealership 2 times for this problem and everytime the problem is not fixed......any ideas would be appreciated....

Re: Love my monte, but it dont love me
Sorry about your GM. Have you tried taking it to a different Dealer? The dealership is only as good as the technicians working there. I think your problem can be solved, but it seems from your information that your particular dealer just likes to "throw parts" at problems. You might be interested in trying to diagnose your problems with the help of your own scanner. Take a look at http://obddiagnostics.com for free software for your laptop, and a inexpensive interface. I might try looking into your coolant temperature sensor that goes to the computer, not the dash gauge. The other posibility is the Throttle Position Sensor or Mass Air Flow sensor acting up. You won't know without reading the values from the computer. Hope this helps -Chris
