Question Help!!!

I have this problem with my 2000 Windstar XL. I've had this problem for a month now. When I start it seems ok. But when I'm at work and ready to go home that's where the nightmare starts. It doesn't idle normally. I have to keep the gas blended so it doesn't stall. What's wrong?Lemon Chiffon

A common problem from what I have been reading here lately. Based on other discussions here it is most likely your IAC (idle air controller) or you have a vacuum leak between the upper and lower intakes.
The IAC can be removed and cleaned but for just under $100.00 you can replace it. You may want to start by cleaning it with intake or carburator cleaner and if that helps go ahead and replace it.
If it is the vacuum leak you will need to replace the isolator bolts holding down the upper intake, the port seals under the upper intake the fuel pressure regulator line and to help prevent the problem from returning a new redesigned left hand or front valve cover. The job itself is not very difficult as I just did mine Tuesday. I think it took longer to clean out the lower and upper intakes than it did to remove and reininstall everything.

By the way, is your check engine light on?

It also seems weird that when you start it first thing in the morning it is fine and doesn't give you trouble until you drive it home after work. Either of the two problems above should cause this symtom all the time.

Re: Help!!!

My 99 did something similar. It turned out to be the TPS (throttle position sensor). Very easy fix and hasn't done it since.
