speedometer problem 98 chevy

My speedometer went up to 100 mph and is stuck there. I have no idea what happened when i went out this morning and turned the key on i noticed it. Does anyone know what the problem could be with this. I just put a new evo sensor in but don't think that had anything to do with it. Thanks for your imput. Greg
