Smile Finished - Porsche Carrera GT

Here it is in bright red. This car was built box stock.

The exterior was painted Tamiya Bright Red.

Thanks to everyone that followed the progress thread HERE.

The kit built up very nice, with no major problems. Except for the engine cover decals. I messed up the mesh decals over glass while gluing the part in. The decal adhered to the decklid well, but the glass didn't and they separated in a flash. I'll definately have to pick up the real mesh grills from Acu-Stion or SMS.

Here's the pics:

Kewlness!

Y'know, the car looks good w/the clear engine covers, you can actually see the engine, a la the 360 Modena...maybe this can be a mild custom, save the mesh for another day/another kit? I actually like the look of the car better this way.

I was surprised how big the mold lines were on the body when I finally saw one of these kits at Wayne's yesterday. Maybe Tamiya's gone to using cheaper body molds?!

Re: Finished - Porsche Carrera GT

That looks awesome. I like the rear hood windows clear. Kinda gives it a more confident look. Great job.

DOOOOOD! I just saw one of these (1:1) on the 405 freeway the other day. I had to do a triple- take to make sure of what I was looking at. Great job on the model, it looks like the real one
