Engine suddenly cuts out... Then restarts

Hi Guys...
Here is one to puzzle the mind. Whilst driving the motor, a 1998 Izusu Rodeo 2.2 manual, it just dies on me. Power drops off suddenly. Revs die when clutch is depressed. It happens in all types of acceleration and steady driving. Nothing I can do. After pulling to the side. Turn the key and it starts again, sometimes it takes a little while. It has been doing this for awhile, now.
Is there anything common about this fault? Or could it be a loose/ broken wire in the electrical system, that will be a bugger to find?

Any help is greatly appreciated
Dave

sounds like a bad fuel pressure regulator. I have no clue as to where it is located on the 2.2l

I have been reading the information on the fuel pressure regulator, in this forum... But wouldn't I get an ECL with the fuel pressure regulator. I only read people had problems at idle and starting etc never on the move.... Could it just cut the engine dead?

Re: Engine suddenly cuts out... Then restarts

This happened to me with my 4WD 1998 Rodeo. It was under warranty and they told me that they replaced the alternator. That's all they said...which I find it strage but ever since then it had not happened.
I almost killed myself 5 times due to this...took it to the dealer a few times and they could not diagnose it.
