95' jetta IIIGL burned out compressor clutch

do any of you know if there is a way rig the 95 jetta gl to run with out the compressor my clutch burned out on me and locked up that belt now the engine cannot even turn over. i really dont want to spend the 400+ on a new compressor. my question , Is there anyway to buy another wheel that will just sit and spin or something? I would like to just pull the compressor out and put in a shorter belt but the ways its run it has to have something in there some sort of dumy compressor or something? Was the jetta made without a/c ? help ! i think my only option is to pull an old compressor at a salvage yard
