Whats the best wet weather tires?

Hello every1, im currently driving a 96 maxima gxe and am having a horrible time in the rain. Whenever I driving in any kind of wet weather, it seems that whenever i hit a puddle or a line of puddles in the road, the car jerks around and hydroplanes alittle, and its scarin the hell out of me!!! I just bought a set of bfgoodrich traction t/a tires when the tire dude said those where the best wet weather tires, BULL, these are horrible. Its like this whether im driving 25 or 65. any ideas??? thanks

I'm going to assume they inflated your tires correctly, but it might be a good idea to check. 3 to 5 psi above the placard gives better wet traction performance.

Second you might want to get an alignment. A little extra toe in will cause the tires to think they are cornering all the time.

The best rain tire I have ever used are the Cooper Zeon ZPT. They are awesome in the wet as well as dry, I currently have them on my 2000 sentra se with 16" wheels. They were $90.00 each through my local Discount Tire Co. store, and they are very sporty looking. Check them out at coopertire.com listed under UHP section.

i have the traction t/a's and i love them, make sure they are inflated to whatt he tire says and not what the placard says. i find that in my 93 camry xle v6 i get great performance when i have them at 38-40 psi, toyota recommends they be 32 psi...bs i was hydroplaning and it sucked.

adjust the psi to around 4-6 psi of what the placard says. as for coopers, also very good tires but i like the bfg's better.

I wasn't all that impressed with the T/A in the wet in our testing here. There are a lot of other wet tire options out there that do better. You can see our testing reports here:

I read the same article too when I was shopping for new tires, and I had the same idea as you hungy82. I wanted something that was going to help me not rear-end someone in the rain. Originally I was going to get the Aquatreds but after the reading the article I bought the HydroEdge for my 00’ civic. I did a little unscientific slam-on-the-brake testing one night in the rain shortly after putting them on and could feel a little difference! Then again the original tires were shot and had a little over 53,000 mi on them. They're a little quieter then the stock rubber that came with the civic as well. I’ve read options on the web that they suck on the snow, and that you don’t want to use them for all season, but the winter isn’t here yet so we’ll wait and see.
