New personal best.

Went to the track last night. Started with the same settings from the shootout but at 25 psi, not 35 plus Ran well, 119 mph. I believe that was a new best right off the bat. Added a couple degrees timing, took out a little fuel, and added 2 psi over the next few runs. By run 6 I still had a fairly conservative tune with 21 degrees total timing advance, 27 psi, and 11.8:1 AFR. I also no lift shifted the 3-4 (worth 3 mph by itself) and almost shat when I saw the slip. Only a 12.0 since I bollixed the 1-2 shift, but 126.5 mph! 1/8th mph was 98.5, so the car picked up 28 mph in the back end, which is very promising... Unfortunately though I didnt "break," I did spring an oil leak that I just happened to notice in the staging lanes. Good thing I looked, that could have easily cost me a motor if I ran it again... Its behind the tebelt cover, so I'm not sure when I'll get a chance to look at it.

But hopefully next week I Can get to the track again with closer to 30 psi, 25 degrees advance, and no lift shift every gear. I'm hoping for over 130 mph (should be the easy part), but more importantly an 11.49 or better so I can get booted from the track and take the rest of the year off I have no intentions of having a roll cage installed this season. But ET is harder to get than MPH, and it breaks more tranny parts. I'll be sure to post the results either way.

Re: New personal best.

Thanks guys.

It's a fun ride! The car is a handful, even in 3rd and 4th. I cant imagine what the real fast cars are like. Those guys have a pair for sure...

Re: New personal best.

Thanks guys After looking at some of my settings and coming to a few realizations (still need to review the logs again), I'm determined to get more power out of this thing. I'm going to take it easy on the ETs next time out and try to get over 130 mph. First, 3 pounds more boost. 30 psi seems like a nice round number. Then 3-4 degrees more timing. Once I get mph jacked up, I'll go for one ET pass and get booted in style if all goes well I'm really itching to get this out there again. If it wasnt for that damn oil leak, I'd be half way to the track right now... Ah well, next week I guess.

Re: New personal best.

Thats some badass scenery at that track!

Airflow was 61.4 lbs/min, peak in 3rd gear. That kind of airflow is worth more trap, which brings me back to the timing and AFR settings. Though odds are I Will keep the settings on the pussy side and just add airflow, its safer.

When you see Hal and Dave, make sure you tell them I said hello. They've both helped me out over the years. In fact, Hal gave me the idea to run the NT TB and 3" silicone elbow in my UICP, I just came up with the exhaust cones and the rest of it. Good guys...
