Alarm?

Sorry guys I know there isn't supposed to be "car talk" in here... but I need a quick answer and there is usually good traffic in here.


OK so I just bought my parents a 97 chrysler concorde off a friend of mine, He mailed me the key and I want to open it up and check it out but it has an alarm which I have the controler for but no matter what buttons I push it still seems to keep going off!

so the controller thingy says viper on the front and DEI on the back, it has 2 buttons one marked with a "l" and the other marked with "ll". so anyway do I push "l" or "ll" and do I push them once or twice or in some kind of order, anybody have a similar alarm? please help me I have never had a car with an alarm before I already hate it.



edit: I already tried calling my friend... nobody home.

maybe you need batteries in the remote

to stop it constantly beeping un hook the posts to the battery, then either disable part of the alarm system or wait till u can get ahold of your buddy.

ok i think i got it now, i pushed a bunch of buttons then threw the remote at the car... j/k i pushed the l buttom repeatedly and it seems to have shut it off. thanks for the help guys.

^yessss, just keep pressing random buttons or one button repeatedly until something happens

haha finally got in touch with my friend he said #1 button is alarm and #2 is for the trunk sooo I suppose its time for a new battery in the remote since I had to push it like 10 times for it to work.


yeah also opening the hood is a 2 person job one to pull the lever and hold it up while the other opens the hood, and there is a board in the trunk to hold the hood open... hmmm haha good thing I only paid 300 for it.

Or you could've inserted the key into the key slot on the door handle, the old fashioned way.

which would allow me access to the interior and still have an alarm going off. wonderful idea, thankyou for sharing.

Well, most of the cars I know disengage the alarm once the key is inserted, and the driver door is unlocked because it recognizes that the key is authorized. Once you gotten in, you could've pressed the unlock button which does the same thing. Unless that car didn't have that at the time. My mom had a Tahoe once, 1997 and it did exactly what I jsut said before. One embarassing story was we were on the highway, and there was a problem with the alarm activation, and I pressed unlock on the passenger side door, and the alarm went off when we were driving at 70 mph. It was hilarious. There was always a problem with that alarm, it never worked right.

Some alarms are set to go off if you unlock the car from the inside. I.E. Someone smashes your window and then unlocks the car so they can get in. The car alarm waits a good 3 seconds then fires off.
