Traction Control

Is there any reason that traction control should be left on? I know the car defaults to on but I ran with mine off and my fuel milage went up .5 per gal. I know thats not alot (well, yes it is), but would this mean that there could be less wear on the drivetrain if its off?
thanks

Re: Traction Control

I doubt its less drain, its all electronically sensored, TC on doesnt mean its dragging the car down. I suggest a few fill ups and a longer experiment.

I cant see how TC off would improve mileage. I feel it should decrease fuel efficiency, simply due to the fact that its easier to break traction

Shouldn't that be 'decrease fuel efficiency, since I'm driving around TRYING to break traction'?
