Question LT4 Knock Sensor Module?

can anybody tell me exactly what an LT4 Knock Sensor Module does? how it improves performance or not. Is there a difference between LT1 & LT4 knock sensor Modules? Is there a difference between Knock Sensor Module and Knock Module? Should I get one sense I've headers now?
thanks

Re: LT4 Knock Sensor Module?

all i know is that the LT1 knock sensor will detect false knock signals or something like that. the computer will retard the timing if you do some modifications, the LT4 doesnt do it. i dont remember exactly what it does but i know its a really good thing to get...

Re: LT4 Knock Sensor Module?

The LT4 has louder overall noise produced by the engine (valvetrain, exhaust, and whatnot.) The knock module for the LT4s, therefore, have a higher tolerance for noise readings before pulling timing to adjust for knock. Anybody with a loud setup on their car finds this Knock module useful because it will not pull for "false knock" on their LT1 engines due to a simple loud setup, which keeps their timing correct and power up. yay!

Re: LT4 Knock Sensor Module?

LT4 came with Roller ROckers, whichn create more noise in the Self Aligning form. The LT4 KM was to counter the false knock the LT1 module would pick up from this. Anybody with headers, a cutout, or roller rockers could possibly (not a guarantee) benefit from the $30 module.

Re: LT4 Knock Sensor Module?

Oh, and a KNock sensor is in the side of the Block (1 on OBD I, 2 on OBD II cars), the Knock Module screws into the PCM itself.

How loud your engine is does not affect your knock sensor persay. Spark knock resinoates through a block at certian wavelenghts (frequencies) The knock sensor will detect that frequencies and create an AC voltage. Depending on how much voltage it produces depends on the severity of the knock.

MAKE SURE YOU LOOK UP THE TORQUE SPECS FOR THE SENSOR AND GET IT DEAD NUTS ON!!! if it is too tight or loose, it will not work correctly.

and don't use any thread sealent or anything like that either.

Not the knock sensor, the Knock module. It is inside the PCM to convert the knock sensor readings.
