flowtech 2 1/2 inch cutouts

question i own a 1997 z71 pickup i bought a set of flowtech 2 1/2 inch exhaust cut outs i have installed a set of flowtech headers cats and flowmaster exhaust im wondering the best place to install the cutouts if anyone has done this before on a newer model truck it would be great wondering if installing before the o2 sensors will trip a code when open but i still want them before the cats any ideas would be great thanks

if you have duel cats or singal cat there is a o2 sensor in front and one behind each cat.duels carry 4 o2 sensors and the singal carries 2 sensors

my truck has dual cats with 4 sensors i have two o2 simulators for the rear o2 sensors im thinking they should go right before the cats but after the sensors anyone know the size exhaust pipe is on the dual cat tubes?

so if i cut a section out of the cat tube i should be able to slip the 2 1/2 inch cutout on and clamp it on right?????

the thing is i dont have a welder and i cant find and exhaust shop to do it for a reasonable price so i figured id try and do it myself im just hoping the isnt too much space betewwn the cat tube and the cutout i gues ill have to give it a shot ill know for sure then

now my question is why are you putting cut out on for.explain

the cut out bypasses my muffler allowing me to have open exhaust by removing 3 wingnuts i got um from jegs they can also be wired with an electric opening add on if wanted but its pretty costly i just dont want to hack up my cat down tube and have the cut out not fit there has to be someone on here who has done this before please help

where are you going to put the 2 simulators in the cutouts or replace the old o2 sensor. I just can't see this working. Why don't you just drop the cats and put the simulators in,then I can't se that working to well either because you need some backpressure. that is just my thoughts

my simulators are just before the muffler so all i need to do is install the cutouts after the first 2 o2 sensors and after the cats this will keep some backpressure from the cats but lose the muffler my 2 rear o2 simulators should keep it from tripping a code as long as i install the cut out after the 2 front sensors my real question is the pipe that hold the 2 cats is 2 1/4 so my 2 1/2 inch cut out should slip over the pipe allowing me to clamp it on right???? ill have to figure out the best location

the 2 1/2 inch cutouts should slide over top of the front and back of 2 1/4 inch exhaust.just find a spot with no bends in the 2 1/4 inch so you don't have an exhaust leak. so are you running an extra pipe off of the cutouts to the back of the cab with turn downs so you don't get any exhaust in the cab. all and all you want louder exhaust right.

I cut the cat and gutted it on my truck just about a week ago. It sounds a lot better and i did a pretty ragtag job on it, but it works and sounds good.
