Question s2k vs 350z

hey, i'm looking at both the s2k and 350z, and i recently test drove both. i really love both cars, but you can't get everything. Z has low end grunt, and it moves nicely, but i also like how the s2k revs up so high, and i like the way it drives as well. i've read different things about both, any opinions as to which you'd prefer, and why? thanks, any help is appreciated!

K&N Intake, KYB GRX Shocks, Pirelli P06's, Axxis MM Brake Pads, and the rice treatment... 160k miles and still running strong.

I own a 04 S2K as well as a 96 Accord and my wife owns a 03 Pathfinder. What I will say about choosing between the two vehicles, I would also look at the reliability as well as the service provided by the maker. I have 169,958 miles on my 96 Accord and the car starts and rides just like she did when I first purchased her. I brought her new in 96 and she had 10 miles on her. The Nissan dealer here is the worst dealership I have ever dealt with. So, when it can time to purchase my toy, I too looked at Nissan but a friend of mine had one and he had nothing but problems with the car as well as the dealership.

Now, I drove both cars but I liked the ride in the Honda more as well as I loved how the Honda dealership here has always taken care of my 96 Accord. So when the time came, the chose was simple for me.

I said all of this to say, don’t just look at the car, but look at the service the dealership provides as well as the company standing behind its product.

Re: s2k vs 350z

max,
It's all in what you like. 350z is VERY forgiving and nicer ride. s2k is ALL street version of an INDY F1 (ok, 1/4th ). I have a s2k and test driven 2 350zs. Also in the mix was the RX-8. I'm an old schooler, of sorts - in love with the RX-7. So, 8 was nice, but not enough dice. 350z's nice but nothing like the older brother 300zx. For me, it's about the hard-core driving experience. Not about the 0-60 (although s2k better Road and Track/Car and Driver), but about the sheer thrill of 40mph 1st gear, 70 in 2nd, well you get the idea. s2k is a very UNFORGIVING car. Too much horses and not enough torque to help out . I've heard the '04 have done better at this... again, old school vs new. '04 does NOT have the screeming 9,100 redline. In the end, I choose the s2k because the price was right for a convertible. the '04 350z now is available with a soft top too!

Flip side. Manu-defect? Dunno. I had three grears replaced at 10k miles. Honda techs made her EXACTLY the same as new. There has to be something done to the gears at such rpms...

Re: s2k vs 350z

Oh, at first, I loved noise (out of the exhaust). Now, I can't stand it. I wish there was an exhaust system that would completely muffle and allow full flow! I really dislike all these "wanna-be's" with their 2Fast-2Furious mufflers/tailpipes contributing nothing but noise...

I think you should get the 04 350Z Track model. EXTREMLY nice car, and I totally love it.

Re: s2k vs 350z

On Car and Driver, they said something like... The S2000 feels more like a race car than a street car.... Plus it only comes in 6 speed trannys.... Plus Honda is extremely reliable... I have a 94 Accord with 205,000 miles in my driveway and it runs like new.... if i were you...i'd look into buying like 03 with low mileage and put the money you saved into FI and you'll be set
