I don't know how to remove the dash in my 2000 Grand Am because the ignition and cigarette lighter are on the same panel as my cd player. If someone could give me a step by step process of how to do this it would be a huge help. Thanks in advance.

answer: Take it to a pro, Good Guys or Circuit City. Believe me it's worth the money to get it done right. The GA's are so sensative and you could blow a fuse or screw up your car just by try to fool around with your stereo, Trust me I have been there. Take it to the pros

it's actually not that hard, i pulled mine off accidentally when i was unplugging my radar detector once... and took me 2 years to get it back on ( stupid me not realizing the clip was bent) The best thing i can tell you is pull at the panel by the cigarette lighter from there work your way up towards the ets and hazard buttons and across towards the ignition, when you get to the ignition the plastic piece that says off acc and on turns slightly then comes off mine just popped off when i pulled at the panel. Becareful when doing this cuz you don't want to break any of the plastic pieces and make sure that none of the clips get bent if they do simply rebend them with pliers. also when you get it off the cigarette lighter, hazards and ets is connected the the face plate so you will have to look into on how to get it off other then that it's very simple to do. Installation is reverse of removal except a few good punches and everything pops back into place.

its actually really simple i had a buddy of mine do it b/c i didnt know how to. all you have to do is put your hand in the bottom tray in front of the shifter and there is a clip that holds everything in. pull down on it (you will feel where the cover ends) and slightly pull down and out and everything will just pop out. after that its pretty straightforward what to do. the cd deck is connected using 3 bolts i think and all you have to do is remove the ignition ring which is just as easy. hope this helps

its not just really simple, its increadibly simple! it takes me all of a couple minutes to remove my cd player. The front facia trim that surrounds the stereo, ac, ignition, and other crap simply pops right off, you gotta remove the cover that surrounds the ignition first though, other than that, 4 bolts tops and out your deck comes ready for the wiring. And if you blow a fuse, big deal, go to walmart and pick up a variety pack of fuses just incase, cause you probably will blow a few in the pocess, i know i have. But its always a good idea to disconnect your battery first to prevent this. Taking it to a shop and having it installed is only a good idea if the install is free. Otherwise its a waste of money.
