help me help my corrado!

hie! i own a 1989 corrado g60 and i loooooove it!! but i have a little problem i hope you gays could help me with. you se last week i (well, not me but some experienced old man) changed the engine in my car.. i had him replace my old and "dead" 1.8 motor with an other working 1.8 engine. and this worked fine for a week.. but then the display (the one to the left of the speedometer that show oil temp, mph, trip. and all that stuff) just turned blank... i have checked absolutely every plug and contact i could find and every singel fuse but nothing seems to bring life to my dear display:/ i was wondering if this could have anything to do with the engineswap or if any of you have any idea of what is causing this damned thing!!
by the way, løv this forum! AND PLEEEEEASE HELP ME!!

hey, you might take a look at the altenator, may sound strange, but the little blue wire on it...well if that is shorted or not hooked up in the right place..you loose everything in the gauge cluster but the speedo

Thats true also if you have an aftermarket radio installed make sure you have a good connection on the memory wire most people splice it into the hot wire going to the guage cluster.
