I very rarely use my sunroof, and I had it fixed on the warrenty a number of years ago. I used it the other day and it got stuck. The window is closed, but the cover is stuck in a half open position.
The BMW Dealer wanted $1300 to fix it. $400 to just close the cover. Can anyone please tell me how to close the cover? Is there any documentation that would explain how I can fix this myself? |

Re: 1999 323i Sunroof
I think the dealer wants to replace the entire cassette. this because they're time consuming to repair but the parts are available from the dealer, you might ask them why they won't fix it......I do them, but the labor isn't cheap [800.00], but $400.00 just to close it ? ? ? that's not easy either, but, well, they'll have to move [finish breaking the drive linkage] the cover anyway to remove the glass and there's no repair without removing the entire cassette.
What exactly would you like to do with it??? It's not really a 'do-it yourself' job ! !......what would you do if you had a problem? |

Remove the glass, there are six torx screws, replace the slides on the sliding cover and reinstall the glass. the slides are less than fifty.
