Question my bonnie revs intermitantly at idle, then won't accelerate

Ok...This is a wierd one.

I have a 94 bonnie I got from a guy. Stuff just started popping up all over the place such as it reving high on idle and stalling on idle or while slowing down. Oh...I also lost power steering briefly until I turned the car off and restarted it. Any ideas on any of that?

Here is the really wierd one though:

When I turn the car on, it will occassionally rev up and down as if I am tapping the gas peddle on and off quickly. It will just do that for awhile, and while it does that, I have no ability to accelerate. Sometimes, if I just pop it in nuetral for awhile, it will stop bugging out after awhile, then it is fine. Any ideas?

Is it related to the high reving on idle and stalling? Also, it revs wicked high when I start up...just while I have the key turned all the way. (Is that called a 'hard start' maybe?)

Please, oh please help. The only thing I know about it is that the guy I bought it from had the computer changed recently.

you most likely lost power steering casue the engine was shutting down or sputtering (tech term). I had problmes similar to this on an older gm and it turned our to be a bad computer. maybe the one he put in was noo good. are you getting a check engine light when any of this happens?

check the throttle position sensor. that controls the revs on idle, saw one go bad on a 94 bonne had pretty much same condition your describing

cost?

I'm going to try the fuel pump relay first since it is so cheap...I'm not a mechanic, but does anyone have .pdf of service or mechanic manuals on a 94 bonnie so I can figure out what I'm doing?
