96 Tahoe IDLING ROUGH
 I HAVE A 96 TAHOE 4X4 2 DOOR THAT IVE BEEN HAVING SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH. THIS IS THE MOST RECENT, WHEN GOING DOWN THE ROAD IT FEELS LIKE ITS CUTTING IN AND OUT. I GUESS YOU COULD COULD SAY LIKE ITS SKIPPING OR MISSING. WHEN ITS IN PARK IT IDLES UP AND DOWN. IT WILL ACT LIKE ITS FIXING TO GO DEAD THEN IT ALL OF A SUDDEN IT IDLES ITSELF BACK UP. COULD THIS BE A INTAKE GASKET PROBLEM? SOMEONE HAD TOLD ME THAT BUT I DIDNT KNOW. OR COULD IT BE THE TIMING? ANY IDEAS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANKS -P.S. - THESE ARE THE THINGS THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN DONE TO IT - THE PLUGS, WIRES, FUEL FILTER, FUEL PUMP, AIR FILTER, & OXYGEN SENSORS HAVE BEEN CHANGED BUT NONE OF THAT MADE A DIFFERENCE IN THE IDLE. PLEASE HELP!!

|
If the throttle body is dirty it can cause problems. Try cleaning it first, then look for vaccum leaks. Fuel injected engines, don't llke unmetered air at all.

one other thing to check is the fuel pressure regulator.

Well We Now Know That Its In Fact The Intake Gasket Leaking (pretty Bad Actually) We Hope To Fix It This Weekend Or Sometime This Week. I Have Read In Another Forum That This Is A Very Common Thing In These Motors. I Hope This Will Be The Fix To My Problem. I Will Let You Know. Has Anyone Else Had This Problem, And What Was The Outcome? Thanks-

If you do it yourself just be sure that you mark the position of the distributor EXACTLY or you will have to take it to the dealer to have them set the distributor timing electronically with a scan tool. -Chris

WELL, THIS IS JUST A UPDATE - WE GOT THE INTAKE GASKETS CHANGED LAST WEEK AND IT DID INFACT FIX MY PROBLEM!! IT RUNS LIKE NEW AGAIN! THANKS FOR EVERYONES REPLIES! :o)
