Red face bad fuse or something else?

My brother who is diying from cancer Just gave me his car, a 1994 thunderbird I want to take care of it the best I can but it came without a owners manual and I dont know the first thing about cars.
Yesterday I blew a fuse ( I think?) and A/C went out .A friend fixed it (I think?)it ran for 1 day then went again
when I checked the fuse it was realy blown, and not just a little either.
Shortly after the 2nd one blew I lost all panal function. now the turn signal sounds like its in hyper speed when I use it.Could my problem be the flasher? or am I looking at some thing realy bad and costly.
thanks Pat.

Re: bad fuse or something else?

Did you replace the fuse with one that has a higher amperage rating the first time? It sounds like you have a short in the flasher circuit for one thing. If you used a higher rated fuse then what is called for you might have melted some wires together under the dash. I'm a cancer surviver and will say a prayer for your brother.

Sorry to hear about your brother. You can try to remove the flasher and then replace the fuse to see if it blows....if it does then the flasher is not the problem...it might be a lamp the has shorted out somehow.....if one of your marker lamps blows then the flasher doesnt see as much resistance so it flashes a lot faster.....quick way to tell if you have a fried lamp.
