98 Malibu Squeaks

Does any one know why my 98 Malibu squeaks from the front when driving down a straight fairly smooth road. Noise starts after about 10 mph and seems to stop after 50 mph or maybe I can't hear over road noise. Noise seems to stop when making either left or right turn.

Re: 98 Malibu Squeaks

Have you took off your wheel cover lately? Because if your wheel cover is loose it will squeak when go over bumps. Don't know if that will help. Other that or you need to change you front pad because the break pad is getting too low and the wear indicator is touching the break rotor. That is where I would start to check the squeaking noise.

Definately not the brakes, I replaced pads and rotors this spring. I thought it might be front sway bar.

Brought car to mechanic who said the noise was caused by a loose strut. He tightened it and the noise has stopped.
