base model - z22 - z24?

can anyone tell me what features the z22 has?
like what it has that the base model doesn't offer and what it doesn't have that the z24 model may offer?

also..do cavaliers have timing chains or belts? cause looking to buy a used cavalier that has over 100000km what things will i have to look into replacing and tuning up?

thanks

Re: base model - z22 - z24?

the Z22 is not recognized by GM or chevrolet, its something that dealerships made up to get uninformed buyers to waste extra money. The Z22 is nothing more than a basemodel coupe with a badge that says Z22. The Z24 on the other hand is a nice package.

Base Model Cavy
I-4 SOHC engine, 2.2L engine 115HP power nothing, 14 in steel wheels. Just a really shitty car.

Z24 Model
I-4 DOHC engine, 2.4L 150HP, power windows, doors, trunk, foglights, premium sound CD, 16inch alloy wheels, performance tires, sport tuned suspension, wing.

Ecotec LS has same options has Z24, just it has a 2.0L 140HP engine.

Actually the Ecotec LS is a 2.2 Eco not a 2.0

Re: base model - z22 - z24?

Oh and I looked at the original poster's pofile and see he is from canada. what they were doing in canada was listing the Eco LS as a Z22 instead of the Z24. It was trying to show people up there that the LS is a Z24 with a new motor. So just check under the hood. If it has a Z22 badge and you look under the hood and it says 2.2 Ecotec on the valve cover that is the "new" Z24 or the LS model

As for the timing chains or belts, they have chains.
