88 4x4 Tranny Prob No Rev or 2nd?

I have had my 88 Chevy 1/2 ton 4x4 5.7 w/4 speed auto w/overdrive
since it was brand new. has 150,000 and tranny always serviced on time and never any problems. The other day was running great, I parked it and then the next am I had no reverse. I changed the tranny filter and auto tranny fluid being sure the level was correct but still no reverse. It goes forward but shifts from first to 3rd with no overdrive either. If I put the shifter in d,3 or1 it goes forward. In 2 or R, I get nothing. The cable for the tranny which is attached to the bottom of the throttle on the TBI is still hooked up anyone have any ideas?
