crank pulley
ok, so i found out that you have to remove the crankshaft pully to remove the timing cover, but how do you keep the pulley from moving while you are turning the bolt. I dont have air tools so this is a little more difficult. Any help is apprediated. Thanks.

What year 'scort are you working on?? 1.9 or 1.8 Ltr.??
if it's a 1.9 you have to remove 2 small bolts on the far side of the oil pan to remove the flywheel access cover. then you need to wedge a large screwdriver in the flywheel teeth to keep it from turning ,then you can remove the belt. You will also need to remove the upper left hand side motor mount to get the cover off. Some have said they got their's off without removeing the mount but it must have been a wrestling match to do so. Remember to support the motor with a jack while the mount is off. I just used the sissors jack that comes with the car and a peice of wood to avoid damageing the oil pan and was good to go. |

Re: water pump again.
on my 2.0 I managed to muscle out/in my timing belt cover. If your car is a stick shift, put it in gear with or without the parking brake on. Then you don't need to block the flywheel.
