Not so Dynamite a ride with Dyna Ride Suspension

I have a 94 PA that has a Dyna Ride suspension. I understand this to be an air shock type system. My problem is that this does not seem to be working too well. Each time I hit a pot hole, the car grounds out and behaves as if there's is no shock absorber. Hitting a bump at highway speed causes the car to oscilate up and down a number of times. If this were a normal car, I would say that the front struts and rear shocks would be in need of replacement.

The question I have, concerns this Dyna Ride feature. How does one test that this feature is working correctly? Where is the air pump located and would a faulty pump account for the symptoms I described.

Thanks in Advance.

Load a bunch of stuff in the trunk. A fair amount of weight. If you don't hear the pump click on, it's your pump. If the pump does engage, but the rear does not rise, the shock absorbers are bad.

Question 94 - suspension questions too

I have a 94 PAU which doesn't have what's advertised as "Dynaride" but does have a "traction control" button. I've never been able to figure out what, if anything, that it does.

Also, my car makes a fairly loud clunking sound when I roll over something (like a RR track) at low speed (less than 5mph). I have visions of having to replace ball joints and tie rod ends as well as shocks. Any ideas on what this may be?

Steve
