Short Throw

Anyone have a short throw shifter? I was wandering if it was a big difference... And where you got it...

Also... So shit would be cheap... Think a short throw from like another car would fit... It would also make finding a shift knob a tid bit easier... Just wandering if anyone has fucked with that or thought about it... Whatev.

Re: Short Throw

heres how to do it ( i have not done this myself)

1. pull the knob off by pulling straight up, its not fastened by anything, its just really tight. i'm told the best angle is in the back seat.
2. take a hack saw to the lever, take off what you want. but remember, once you cut it off, its off. if you want to go back, you are going to need a new shifter (junkyard).
3. put knob back on, i don't know if the stock knob will work, seeing how hard it was to get off. aftermarket knobs are commonly fastened by a screw.

also, SPSwebpage.com makes a "true" short throw shifter that they designed, not just took a hacksaw to it.

But... When you take of the shift knob... There is a striaght side to the front... If you saw it of... Your not going to be able to put the knob back on... And... There are two notches on the side for the knob to snap in place... I've taken the shit apart and thought about sawing off a chunk, then just welding the top piece back on. -lol- Thats what I thought a while back... But then I gotta know how to weld...

Well, I went through their site... and counldn't find the short throw... I think I've seen it before though and it was quite expensive... But, my girlfriend's dad has a welder and her brother knows how to weld, so I'm thinking I'll try my way... Buy a new shifter from a junkyard and try it the other way as well... -lol- See which I like better.
