Read, about 5sfe/3sgte

hey its 11:00 at night and i have school tmrw, but im gunna give a lil insight tonight and more tmrw on the 5sfe and 3sgte

im tired of .....whenever someone goes "hey im wanting to spend like 2 or 3k on engine modes just so i can basically beat most cars that pull up next to me".....

some guy on the celica forums immidiatly jumps up and goes DO A 3SGTE ENGINE SWAP!!!!........ first off a 3sgte swap is close to 5k, thats if you do everything urself and you dont have to re program ecu and buy extra sensors....etc second of all, not everyone wants a 1,000Hp drap car, thats basically what your trying to accomplish with the swap. The 5sfe is a perfectly good engine that with some cams, intake and exhaust can beat any naturally aspired non-sports car aka a civic or integra, not a twin turbo 3000gt or some expensive ass 350z or viper.

What im tryn to say is yeah 3sgte is iorn block and comes with massive boost capabilities yada yada yada, basically a better motor if your lookin for a car with 300+HP a 5sfe in my opinion is a way better motor if your just trying to get like 300 Hp or below outta ur celica.

think about it, if im just tryin to get like 200 horses, al i have to do is buy intake, headers, exhaust, some cams, and some slight head work. if im lookin for 300, i basicallly just do the same shit but lower comresssion ratio do some internal work, boost at 10-15 psi and im good to go... yeah theres more to it than that but if your only lookin for like 300 Hp then its way cheaper than spending the 5k + on the engine swap and just putting the money twards building ur motor....

look at me i hav e a shitty 1.6 liter 4afe, all u 5sfe guys have like 35 horses and 45 tq on me stock, ive only put like $900 into my car and i take you (intake, headers, exhaust, eram and stage 1 racing clutch)

MY WHOLE POINT IS IF YOUR ONLY LOOK FOR Like any less than 300 horses than stick with the 5sfe, or if you on a budget, because to be honest, id rather keep it even if i was goin for 500 Hp or sumthin like that....2 liter more displacement, and that if you blow the motor there cheap to replace

need more power to 5sfe

well i did consider the engine swap, but i know that it is way to expensive to do. Well anyways how can i get at least 200hp to the wheels, thats all i really want, i just want to feel my car pull, instead of just making noise. Yes the car is automatic, thats one of the biggest problems with my car, thats why i don't know if it is worth it to get the transmition swap. I just want my car to be able to keep up, and beat some of the newest cars today. Like corolla xrs, celica gts, rsx type S, those kind of cars. Just tell me what i need to do

I personally would not go through the trouble of doing an engine swap. I would much rather buy an AWD celica with a turbo already on it. With that you still get good resale value, alot of people are less likely to buy a car after its had major work done to it unless they are kids.

Re: Read, about 5sfe/3sgte

actually the prices for all track have slowly DE-clined, ive noticed even in the past 3 or 4 years theve gone from lets say 10,000 to almost 7k or 8k....the reason being is that a lot of peopel hav etake the 3sgte and put them into gt/gts (we'll call them gt2) 5th gens...

to be honest, the gt2 is better than the all trac, its faster in the 1/4 by about .4 seconds, due strictly to the fact that the car is 500 pounds lighter (3250 all trac, 3650 gt, 3750 gts) and has less power loss throught the drivetrain/trasaxle (all-trac has 50/50 power distribution to the front and rear wheels, gt2 has 100% to the front wheels)

dont get me wrong, is the gt4 ( all trac) was the same weight wit the all wheel drive the nit would be the winner, but the sheer fact that it is a heavy son-of-a-bitch compares to the gt2
