Lowering My 96 Cavalier??

how should i lower my cavalier and if i do will i not be able to get a body kit for it later? how much should i lower it and should i get lowering springs or coil overs... and does it mater what kinda? (there are some coil overs on ebay for like 70 bucks) pretty much just tell me everything. thanks for the help

Ha Ha a newbeh.... Well my friend.. There are a bunch of ways to lower a car. DO NOT go with the 70 dollar blue ones on e-bay, just a little advice from a person with horror stories. I have dropzone on my car myself, as i know they are cheap and do the job but my ride quality isn't the greatest. You can just just buy a set of springs and put them on your stock struts like i did, but you will regret it. When you lower your car, it will be nothing like the factory ride is use to have.... it will be hard and bumpy. But thats the price we pay for beauty. I have heard good things about Eibach prokit or goldlines.. Yet i have also heard somtimes they tend to sag a little bit.... But i would go with somthing along those line and then get either KYB or Koni struts. They will improve the ride of the springs. This is not a cheap beauty make over for your car. THe springs will run you anywhere from 170-300 bucks. The struts will cost about 290-600 bucks. It all depends on what you do. But if you are going to do it.... do it right. And after fixing my mistakes,,, my car rides shown below.... no gaps in the wheel weels... And yes you can still run a body kit... it will look even better... thats my next purchase.... g'luck man

right now im riding eibach sportline series springs. They are great to do the job and really give the car a sporty look bringing it lower and bringing the wheels close to the wheel wells. However, the ride is sacrificed seemingly almost to be like a go kart. Bumpy - but I also have noticed much better handling. Also, in the past 3 months they've started squeaking over big bumps and stuff...... otherwise great for the cheap price

To keep a quality ride - Koni red with eibach Prokit

For a more agressive look with a bumpy ride - Koni Yellow or Red with eibach Sportsline

For an adjustable height depending on your mood - Ground control coilovers (eibach supplies the springs) with Koni Yellow or reds


Difference in Yellows Vs Reds - Reds you have to twist to adjust the stiffness, Yellows come with a "key" so you can adjust them while they are still on the car via a adjustable setting knob.

well one thing use new shocks and struts with those springs trust me from my experience I used just lowering springs and now i have a blown rear shock... so i am buying the whole set just not sure what i want yet.
