Re: need a motor

What color is the smoke? White means coolant is turning to steam, probably bad head gasket or cracked head. Blue is oil smoke, usually from worn rings or valve guides or valve seals. Black smoke is unburned fuel.

A
bit of all of the above. since my mechanic told me I am only running on 2 cylinders, plus the fact I have 146 k miles, I NEED A NEW MOTOR!
Sweet car tho, she still goes 50 plus. I think I have one of the good ones! I cruise Myrtle Beach boulevard regularly....I do know she needs a motor tho.....thanks for your help. I do appreciate all feedback. My Metro is a 93, Colypso Green Ragtop.

Re: need a motor

Ragtop, nice. If you can find a mechanic who's worked on 3 cylinder Geo's before, he should be able to change it in the space of a day. I wouldn't pay more than $300 for a used non-turbo 3 banger.

Thanks infinitrium, so far have found one in Ashville, NC. They all seem to import them from Japan. I found about 15 sites on line and I am zeroing in on the one in Ashvill since I live in NC.
My top is a bit worn so I will replaceit for $175.00, another site I found. I have people who will replace top & motor,(kin).

I'd go with one of those JDM motors. They're a bit higher compression, a few more hp, and a lot more engine life.

Re: need a motor

I think it means Japanese Domestic Market, not sure though. the engines themselves are a little better for quality control and tolerances!
