Hey guys, I am considering buying a used vette.... guess I am going through an early mid life crisis. I want something under $15000 and an automatic. I have been looking in the auto trader and keep finding vettes that people are asking $2000 - $4000 higher than the Kelly Blue book on them with no mods on them. Is this right? or are people just plain out of their minds, I mean if a car is valued at a certain amount wouldn't I be crazy to pay more than that for it? I really don't know if I am right or wrong I have never bought a Vette before and I have never paid more than book on a car either.
I am looking for a specific car though, I love the Polo Green with tan interior and I am torn between a convertable or a coupe. I like to have alittle trunk or hatch in my vehicles so I may need to stay with a coupe. I WOULD APRECIATE ANY INPUT I CAN RECIEVE. Thanks in advance. |

i shopped around for a few months for a 91-96 at prices from 15,000-25,000. mostly at used vette dealers . i finally checked private sellers and found one for 14,500 and talked him down to 13,500. a 93 white coupe in excellent cond. i think book value was around 10,000-12,000.

Even the worse mileage or ragged out 97-98 C5's fetch at $20k or more.
But as the other poster pointed out, you can get a decent C4 on that budget, just got to try a little harder.

Ok Guys... I found one, I was looking for a Polo Green coupe but when I saw this Strawberry/Candy Apple Red one I was in love. She has 144000 miles on her but she is all original with no mods what so ever, tight trans, no rattles, drives like new, new monroe sensormatic shocks, new brakes, and with both tops. She has an original finish that is spectacular with unbelievable depth while only showing normal damage considering its a 1992. Total Price....... $8500.00 I felt it was a fair deal.
I do however need to make a few repairs... the Bose Gold CD player is inop, the Cruise control is inop, the glass top has a crack in it, and I need a new air intake rubber duct on the air filter. If anybody might know how I could make some of these repairs easy and inexpensive I would appreciate it. I tried to post pictures of it here but all I could manage to get was a picture of it in my avitar. |
