Injector Problem?
I have a 95 tbi 4.3 and i get about 7 miles to the gallon. Just changed filter, plugs wires, cap, rotor and coil but it still smells strongly of gas when you crank it and for the first ten minutes of driving. It also deisels down real bad. any suggestions??????

It looks like the service engine light would be on. Several things could cause the engine to run too rich. You should probably take the truck to autozone or other parts store and get them to read any codes that the PCM has stored. That would point you in the right direction.

Re: Injector Problem?
Aren't the 95's oBDI ? Autozone only reads codes on OBDII

Re: Injector Problem?
Yes they are OBDI, you should still be able to use the paper clip bridging "A" and "B" connector pins on the diagnostic link connector to pull codes. Is it TBI or MPI? I would have thought you might be looking at a worn injector, possibly a stuck fuel pressure regulator. Have you changed the fuel filter also? Just some ideas. Hope this helps -Chris

Re: Injector Problem?
96 starts the MPFI. Everything before is TBI.

I don't know about the chevy pickups with the 4.3 liter V6, but we use to have a 94 Olds Bravada with a 4.3 liter MPFI Vortec, and autozone read the codes when the egr valve stuck open.

Re: Injector Problem?
I'm pretty sure the 95 4.3s were TBI, and they use the same throttle body as 88-95 350s.

Re: Injector Problem?
There were a few pre-96 4.3L motors that were CPI, I don't know if they were used in a Fullsize but they were used in S-10 Blazers

Re: Injector Problem?
Its a TBI. The Vortecs (multi-port injection) didn't come out in the trucks untill 96.
Have ya checked for any leaks? You may have a hole in a line. Could very well be an injector as well. I know you posted last a couple days ago, so you may have the problem fixed, lol.
