vin number

ok i have been searching for my vin number forever now and i think i finally found it behind the alternator on a little ledge on the passenger side of the block beside the timing chain cover....well i came up w/ vc613cld2ml221439 well i know that the last 9 numbers r right but on third gen.org and a few other vin decoders i tried the first 8 digits find no match. i own a 91 rs but the engine has been changed i know its a 87 or latter due to the fact my rocker arm covers have center bolts and it is a tbi engine. do i even have the right numbers or am i not looking hard enough...please help!!!??!!!

i thought that you had a 305 TBI? really all you have to do is go copy the vin from the winshield plate, and go to carfax.com type it in and it will tell you what engine that your car has. but if your car has had an engine swap done, then you will have to do some searching for a engine id #.
