Have you bothered to check the transmission fluid?

If it's low, it'll act up on you.

Um...

It's pretty complicated.

But I'll try to make it as simple as possible... Cause even I forget how sometimes.
  1. Start the car.
  2. Drive it around the block.
  3. Park the car.
  4. Leave the motor running.
  5. Pull that little latch under the dash that pops the hood.
  6. Get out and open the hood.
  7. Marvel at the beast that is your Hyundai.
  8. Look for the dipstick that says Trans or Transmission.
  9. Pull that dipstick out.
  10. Wipe it clean.
  11. Put it back in.
  12. Pull it back out... and check the level.
  13. If it is below the recommended mark... add more fluid.
  14. How do you add more fluid? You ask.
  15. Get a funnel.
  16. And put it in the same hole the dipstick came out of.

Go check it now...

No, you have to check it when the motor and more importantly the transmission is up to temp. So yes, you have to check it while the motor is running and the transmission is in Park.

So go for a short drive, come back and check it. The tranny fluid has to be warmed up to get a accurate reading.

You got that right.

BTW, The reason why some forums like the Elantra might have less posts is because some just post their postings in the wrong section. If more members started to post in their own sections we would have more threads in there.
